Pneumonia and Nutrition: An Interesting Twist
Some brilliant researchers from Hopkins and U of Maryland have used energy science information to reveal that the lining of the lung airways are able to sense the bitter taste This link appeared in of all places, the Wall Street Journal!
From an energy science medical view all the linings of all the channels of the mindbody have the ability to sense all six tastes: sweet, sour, salty, pungent, bitter, and astringent
Sooooo… what you say? Well, maybe not so exciting for you but…
For me with a matter science background interested in the energy science applications, I'm very excited in seeing my research colleagues beginning to explore the mindbody in an energy science way It begins to show the guidance that the energy science model can give to the matter science probings of our mindbody
Bitter as we covered in the past is the alkaline taste in Nature and balances the inflammatory nature of an insult such as pneumonia So if we have acid indigestion we use something alkaline like baking soda(bicarb) to reduce the acid
Now the researchers are finding that in the inflammatory condition of the the bronchial airways that there is dilation of the airways rather than constriction and that it is due to the stimulation of the bitter taste receptors in the airways
As the article relates, "the airways "taste" dangerous illness-causing bacteria," leading to the ability to clear the infection and mucous resulting from the infection
Since the lungs have the Kapha energy pattern dominant in the lung fields, it would make sense energetically that since Kapha is balanced by the bitter taste a bitter taste would bring about balance and restore health to the infected lung airways
It's yet another validation of the energy science medical model done by matter science medical research but studies such as these help show the value of the marraige between the two disciplines

Groceries With Cash
A recent study suggests that when we pay for our groceries in cash we pay attention to the health promoting characteristics of the food that we are ordering up to take home with us But the observation is that it doesn't induce health promotion as much as health demotion(less junk food)!
Is this a real perception of purchasing for health? Apparently there is more psychological pain when paying cash for things than with the credit card The study also found people were less likely to buy impulsive, unhealthy food products at weekends – possibly due to the fact they had taken the time to write a shopping list
I know this to be the case for myself If I have to haul the $$ out of my wallet, I'm much more apt to think twice about the need for the purchase, especially with a list or a good understanding of what I need
As we talked about earlier lifestyle eating behaviors are as important as the foods we consume according to the energy science nutritional formats and this interesting information is along the lines of lifestyle patterns of behavior that induce declining health
For example, the authors found that there is a possible link between rising obesity rates in the United States and changing modes of payment 34% of Americans are obese and in 2009 40% of U.S. grocery purchases were made using a credit or debit card
I would believe that the VPK paradigm has relevance Since the Kapha energy pattern is responsible for the overweight condition, it would make sense that the inertia generated by this aspect of our energy field when dominant would be associated with such an observation
Credit or debit cards are an aspect of convenience(light, sharp/penetrating, hot, mobile) but potentially an aspect of favoring heavy, slow/dullness, cold, static or stable
From a behavioral point of view it's painful for Kapha to separate from $$ due to the hoarding nature of the energy pattern when imbalanced There's nothing wrong with saving a buck but the pain that's delivered when we have to part with it becomes an imbalanced behavior

Hormone Replacement Therapy and Breast Cancer
Recently in the Journal of the American Medical Association Rowan Chlebowski et al using the data from the Women's Health Initiative involving major medical centers across the US again substantiated the relationship between breast cancer and hormone replacement therapy(HRT) and breast cancer
There has been rising evidence in the medical literature regarding this relationship of breast cancer, particularly more aggressive cancers, in women who are using estrogen postmenopausal supplementation It's probably not the estrogen but the progestin that is the culprit but it's a serious problem But if a woman has a uterus she needs the progestin to reduce the risk of endometrial cancer A catch 22 if you will
Why is it that 5% of women in Spain use HRT and 20% of US women use it? Perhaps tolerance to symptoms is a problem but we should ask the question are the symptoms severe enough to be on such treatment? But this also begs the question whether natural treatment such as herbal supplementation could suffice such as shatavari even for incapacitating symptoms
And of course the foundation of all therapies that we should not forget is nutritional information to begin to bring about balance in the physiology

Morning Routine
The purpose of a morning routine is to wake up the mindbody and help maintain balance When the physiology is woken harshly on a regular basis it institutes a chronic sympathetic autonomic response or fight or flight response Done chronically this leads to, believe it or not, poor digestion due to alteration of gut motility
Here are some guidelines for us to consider Try adding one a week as you build on the regimen You'll be astounded by changes in your physiology over a 6 month period
Wake up early 5-6am In order to do this should try to be in bed by 10pm This is the most balanced time of the day for waking Ask early risers how they feel by waking up early like this
Look at your hands finger tips, palm and wrists, rubbing face, head, and shoulders
Express gratitude to Mother Earth
Splash cool water on the face with eyes open to waken the face and physiology
Drink glass of room temperature water to initiate gut peristalsis and all being supportive will stimulate a bowel movement in fifteen minutes
Brushing teeth mindfully paying attention with short brush strokes
Sesame oil(unrefined) with swish and gargle This has amazing results in improving gingival health and associated gum rescession
Scrape the tongue with copper or stainless steel scraper
Chew a handful of sesame seeds to wake up mastication and stimulate digestion
Move the tongue in a clock and counter clockwise rotation around oral cavity
Massage with balancing oils(particularly Pitta Vata makeups can benefit)
Shower trying not to suds off the oil
Meditation
Dress for the day
Breakfast
The biggest meal should be at noon and a lighter dinner before 7pm
This regimen if adhered to for a prolonged period of time can take one a long way in terms of restoring health and is foundational to a healthy lifestyle And it's all grounded on a energy science approach Unfortunately there are no recommendations regarding this from a matter science medical view It is sorely needed

Psychological Problems: Energy Science Solutions
"I'm anxious about this upcoming project," Mary related "And it seems like the more I do, the farther behind I get On top of it all, there are these things that are coming up at home, with Don and his job I'm just feeling overwhelmed"
I think many of can relate to Mary's issue of anxiety We've all experienced it in some form or another in doing life But the issue is how to manage it
There is not a water shortage of antidepressants! Even though our current molecular model would lead us to believe that there is some form of molecule shortage in the body, it often falls short of fixing the problem
What's the compelling evidence for that statement Just ask those who have tried this molecular approach this question, "Feeling at the top of your game since you started the medication?"
The reason that pharma can't solve these psychological problems is that it is working with the wrong model The mindbody is a complex matter and energy field but from an energy science view it is first and foremost an energy field Both the physical body and the mind are energy fields
Herein lies the importance of the energy model The common denominator for the mind and body is that they are both energy fields Most of the time the solution to a psychological problem is an energetic one, not a molecular one
Why? The mind is first an energy field and second a molecular field just as the body is first a molecular field and second an energy field
So would you use a screwdriver to drive a nail into wood? In other words, would you use a molecule to solve energetic dissonance or lack of energetic resonance? Yes you might get lucky but playing the odds, it's probably more likely, better results will occur with an energy solution
Some energetic solutions
Eat according to your mindbody makeup
Avoid poor food combinations see foodsheal.com
Look into yoga and do it daily
Consider meditation
Focus on the breath
Consider yoga nidra
Consider panchakarma
Are you bothered by depression? Anxiety? Are medications not working?
