Signs and Symptoms of Poor Digestive Fire
Happiness for me is largely a matter of digestion
Lin Yutang
Poor digestion of foods is a very common problem unless we are attentive to the concept of a healthy digestive fire
We have discussed digestive fire and how to ramp it up but I thought today we would talk about the signs and symptoms when our digestive enzyme system of the GI tract is not working optimally This energy science concept sets this approach to the human biology far apart from our conventional matter science medical model used today
Acute (Short-term) Signs and Symptoms
Poor appetite
Coated tongue
Nausea
Weakness and fatigue
Foul gas or flatus; bad-smelling feces
Abdominal pain
Chronic (Long-term) Signs and Symptoms
Bad breath
Tissue emaciation
Malabsorption
Emotional eating
Food cravings
Food allergies
Insomnia
Poor visual perception
Poor circulation
Abnormal color and complexion
Lack of luster
Fear
Grief, sadness, and depression
Confusion
Apathy, repulsion
Indecisiveness and lack of discrimination
Lack of intelligence
Impatience
Shortened life span
Improper direction and inappropriate goals
It is important to note that there can be a combination of acute and chronic symptoms and that some of the symptoms can be off and on Also noteworthy is that since nutrition effects both the physical matter field of the body AND the mind (we are a mindbody after all energetically) there are significant problems that arise in the mind field as a result of poor digestion

This list comes from Dr Vasant Lad's book Textbook of Ayurveda Volume 1 Fundamental Principles and is used in Foods Heal, my newly released book available on Amazon.com The book is also available at this link: https://www.createspace.com/900003672
Do you have any symptoms of a poor digestive fire? Would you be willing to try to improve it if you do? Do you know of others who could be helped with this information?

Foods Heal
Yesterday we talked about the value of seeing the body and foods as energy and having a language that would help us communicate about the energy field in which we live
Today let's talk about why this approach is of value Here are some reasons
1 We get to learn more about ourselves
2 We understand others better
3 We find out which foods can specifically produce disease because in energy science nutrition not all foods are "fair game"
4 We find out the importance of digestive fire and how to nourish it through the use of spices
5 We understand why real healing takes time
6 We find out what prevents us from changing our eating behaviors
We need more information than what we currently have with our matter science nutritional approach
The energy science nutritional approach to foods is a qualitative one not a quantitative such as used in current matter science nutrition, that is, measurement of calories, carbohydrates etc define the food and then we say we know all there is to know about that food
In energy science nutrition foods are selectively chosen according to how they induce balance in the physiology So not all foods are balancing for each of us
Isn't is fun to know more about yourself? Is there room to begin seeing nutrition in a different way? Do we presently have a system of nutrition or a bunch of nutritional facts?

Book Foods Heal Now Available
Foods Heal is about making a nutritional paradigm shift From seeing foods as lumps of matter to seeing foods as bundled unique complex energy patterns
It's not about abandoning or replacing our matter science nutritional studies but to use the energy sciences to give us direction in our studies and further our own health and wellbeing
But we need a vernacular or language to help us with this new way of seeing foods and that's what Foods Heal provides
Presently we cannot speak of the physical body as an energy field It's like going to a foreign country and not being to express what you need or understand what poeple are talking about
But when we have the lingo down then it's simple and easy to understand ourselves and foods as energy That's one of the aspects of what Foods Heal is about
For more information see foodsheal.com
Have you ever been to a foreign country and had trouble making your needs met? Did you find it easier when you had an interpreter or a dictionary?
Tomorrow we'll talk about the advantages of having an energy language

Guilty By Nutrition
I was having a beer this afternoon and had this flash come through my awareness how my teetotaling wife would be having a problem with it
Suddenly I realized that with that fleeting moment of awareness of my wife's mental presence that my mind had quashed my enjoyment of the IPA hoppy taste A guilty pang interrupted the IPA's savoring
The IPA is just an IPA And since my wife wasn't around it was my mind that interfered and messed it all up
And as I write this I realize how often my fleeting thoughts obstruct, obscure, obfuscate, interfere, and hide the enjoyment of the moment with any food or drink
With this guilt of the IPA comes a familiar song and dance I really didn't taste and enjoy the moment Since I didn't get the fullness of the moment, I cannot be satisfied that I really had that hoppy IPA
So guess what? I need to do it again All because of guilt by nutrition! This is the beginning of an addictive nutritional path, believe it or not The birth of eating patterns that don't serve us and our health
How often does our lack of awareness to interfering thoughts or conversation lead to loss of enjoyment of the moment with food?
Have you ever seen your mind intering with the enjoyment of a nutritional experience? Was there anything that you could do to remedy the situation? Would meditation help to reduce the activity of the mind?

PS IPA turned out to be GREAT! And very very hoppy and I'm satisfied and don't need a'tother

Nutritional Free Will
"My heartburn is really bothering me today"
"It's the foods that we consume that create how we feel," I related
We are free to choose the foods but we don't have any say about the consequences of those nutritional choices
"At times because the symptoms are spaced apart from the foods consumed that we cannot make the connections between the dis-ease in our bodies and the offending foods"
"That's why a energy nutritional format is helpful It gives us direction as to what foods ingested time and again will eventually lead to the dis-ease experienced"
In some way we have at times created a disconnect between the dis-ease that we experience in our mindbody with our nutritional choices
The issue is there are foods with the hot quality that are delivering us to reaching for the antacids or H2 blocking agents to relieve the symptoms that foods produce in the first place
If foods produce all dis-ease in the physiology, then where are we to start? A good first place is foodsheal.com where we can get an understanding of those foods that can create imbalances that we experience as symptoms
Are there symptoms that you have that you have not been able to link with a particular food(s)? What has happened when you have eliminated foods that bother you? Have you gone back and tried to replicate the experience of feeling bad hoping this time that the symptoms won't recur?
