A Little Heartburn Is OK?
"How often do you have acid indigestion?"
"Acid what?"
"Acid indigestion You know, heartburn"
"Oh, not very often"
"Well how often?
"Maybe every other day"
This dialogue is not uncommon with patients and underscores our minimizing physiologic problems that need to be addressed But it doesn't happen until the pain becomes "over the top"
This minimizing is a form of denial After all, who wants to be sick? But hey, I am at the doctor's office, I can be sick, but only sick according to MY choice
If I'm here for an elevated PSA, then heartburn doesn't mean too much Right?
To ignore reality is ignorance
For the sake of our health on this planet we should begin our acceptance of anything that is dis-ease in our physiologies
And deal with it! The simplest, most expedient, and fundamental way to deal with many health challenges today is through an energy science approach to nutrition at foodsheal.com Even with challenges such as cancer and obesity this approach is adjunctive in its aid
Have you ever found yourself minimizing a health problem in conversation? Did it feel OK? waht were the repercussions of that denial if any?

Whole Milk Steamer, Please, No Foam
OK, we're at our favorite coffee shop and a thought passes by our awareness that coffee is not on the favorable list for anyone Sure enough we look at our iPhone app and for your mindbody energy constitutional makeup coffee is in the No column
But here we are standing ready to order What are the possiblities? Order as usual Perhaps te(no way!) Maybe just milk without the coffee!
"Well what kind of boost is that!" we exclaim We're here for a "pump me up, can't get started in the am drink"
Where I'm coming from is that at times it's potentially not the coffee that we are looking for Perhaps it's the warmth of the drink, the social interaction, the habit itself, or probably a combination of these and many more
The point is when confronted with the No group of foods in the energy science nutritional format at foodsheal.com we can creatively work around the issue
By skirting the coffee but not completely denying ourselves of the drink itself we can get our psychological needs met without the imbalance, in this instance, coffee
And how about some cinnamon as a digestant for that warm milk?
Have you found that milk may not be the food allergen you thought it was by steaming the milk? Do you find that milk congests when drinking it, particularly in the nasal passages? Did you know that everyone can drink dairy to some degree?

Sometimes We Don’t Know How Bad We Feel
There are times when we know we feel bad Bad stomach ache, sore muscles and joints, etc
But what about the "feeling good" baseline? Could that be better or is that baseline a steady state?
The only way we feel differently from that baseline is to do something that either makes us feel worse or feel better
Typically we do things that make us feel bad and then we say, "Boy I'm not going to do that again!" whether "that" happens to be food, exercise, or a choice that didn't turn out well emotionally
But I would contend that feeling better than we did last year, week, or yesterday is a situation we can do as well We only learn by contrast and cannot know how poorly we are feeling unless we find out a new state of feeling good
So what can we do to feel better and find out that we actually felt bad?
Nutrition is a good start and using an energy science approach is the best(of course there's bias in those words)
Guaranteed that by avoiding foods that produce imbalance, poor food combinations, or doing things that improve digestive fire, we can feel better and better and better
Have you ever felt bad and not understood why? Have you ever felt really good and not known why? Can you tell whether you feel better than you did last year at this time?

Nutritional Sabotage
"Oh what's the use, I just ate something that's not on the list I've failed I give up!"
What follows is complete or incomplete resignment to accept whatever it is that we are trying to change as not important Say we want to stop eating foods such as chocolate or drinking coffee Well as soon as we eat the chocolate or drink the coffee our resolution may be snuffed out
There are perhaps some easy answers to eating behaviors and the mental event of resignment
1 Realize change is not an all or none phenomenon
2 There is no perfection in this journey; recognizing that it is a process not an end
3 There is no timeline for the change to take place!
4 Change requires conscious effort, not relying on the automatics that we use often
We get in the car and drive, listening to the radio, talking on the cell, talking to a friend who we pick up, all the while driving the car has become an automatic activity not conscious
This is to underscore that many activities we do in life, such as brushing our teeth, washing the dishes, etc become unconscious
Until we make a process conscious, that is, thinking about what we want to change all the time, the effort will be sabotaged by our lack of consciousness about the change we want to bring about
So in using the nutritional formats at foodsheal.com we begin to transition from what we used to do automatically and what we want to change
Seth Godin has a wonderful blog today on sabotage that has great relevance for us who are interested in change We have met the enemy and it's us!
Have you ever been unsuccessful about something you attempted? What did you learn as a result? Did it help you become successful because of what you learned? Did that process require you to become conscious of what you wanted to change?

Nutritional Integration
Have we ever been to a place where we couldn't understand the language? We wanted to communicate so we could get our needs met but it wasn't possible until we found someone to interpret for us Right?
"Can you tell me which way to the airport" Blank stare is encountered
The same occurs when we want to speak of foods as energy What kind of vernacular will allow me to do this?
The energy science disciplines give us that means for communication
"Well give me one good reason to learn your language," we say
Integration is the answer And the result of integration is balance And we all yearn for balance in our lives
Since the mindbody from an energy science view is intimately spliced it would be said to be integrated, that is, acting as one The mind is not separate from the body and the body not separate from the mind
Food is both matter and energy Presently we study the molecular aspects of food We ask which molecule is the best solution for health? Vitamin D, vitamin C, lycopene, curcuminoids come to mind
So it is in all of Nature What we see with our senses is both matter and energy
Nutrition can teach us that foods are energy fields and they can help teach us a new language, energy field speak
And when we view foods as energy and matter(molecules) then we have integrated and will begin to acheive nutritional balance We will become multilingual
