Tea
He that takes medicine and neglects diet, wastes the skill of the physician.
~Chinese Proverb ✌
Tea is a general term for any infusion made from a solid form. Leaves of a plant steeped in hot water can make an infusion. But so can seeds, bark, ground up powders from plant parts.
Since plants are medicinal the infusions can be as well. And teas taken internally are concentrations of the plant itself.
So teas can have benefits that coffee our seemingly "national hot drink of choice" does not have. Having said that everything on the planet has medicinal qualities in their own right situation.
But as with foods teas should be used so that they bring balance.
In the list at foodsheal.com there are listed various teas that may induce imbalance in the No column.
For example red zinger would not be a good tea for Pitta Vata because it would be aggravating to Vata like coffee. By the way one of the primary reasons coffee is not good is due to the Vata aggravating characteristics.
