Nutrition and Mental Foibles
Broadly speaking, there are mental structures that we all share such as denial, resentment, love, jealousy, etc And these structures are permanent, cultural, variable in expression, and are continuum based
"What in the heck does this have to do with nutrition," one asks Hang in there for a brief moment and we'll get there, I promise
The Mind and Mental Structures
My son and I were talking over lunch about the differences in the matter science and energy science disciplines and how the matter(molecular) science has such structure around its discipline yet the energy science is more ephemeral
This led to the discussion of mind Since he's finishing his doctoral program in psychology and even though there is little structure to hang one's hat on, it's clear that the energy field of the mind, though not having substance such as the physical body, can be alloted structure
So resentment can be variable in its expression, shared by everyone(unless you're into another structure called denial), oft times culturally based(more in one than another), and some harbor more than others based on their imbalances
Qualities of Mental Structures
And there are specific qualities about these mental structures and this is where this thought process is leading These mental structures have the qualities that make up the mindbody energy field
Let's take for an example denial which carries the qualities of Kapha, namely cold, heavy, gross, liquid, slow/dull, hard, cloudy, static, oily, and dense

So how can we reduce our chances for denial Well, one of the ways is to stop provoking Kapha tendency with Kapha provoking nutrition Particularly for Kapha predominant individuals using a Kapha pacifying nutritional format would be very useful avoiding those foods that bring about the qualities associated with the above
"Bizarro"you might say But if the mind and body are intimately spliced, then what happens in the mind happens in the body and vice versa
How about the mental structure of resentment? This is a structure brought about by Pitta imbalance with the qualities of hot, sharp/penetrating, mobile, light, liquid, and oily So in that setting reducing Pitta aggravating foods in the nutritional format would be helpful
Who says that nutrition cannot impact our mental state? The energy science nutritional medical model says most definitely!
